PLAINVIEW CARNEGIE LIBRARY
In 1916 a Carnegie grant of $6000 was received & the townspeople raised
$2000 more to purchase 3 lots from Mr. Buckingham, where the present Carnegie
Library brick building was built at 102 S Main. The Carnegie Library was
dedicated on April 5, 1917. Today our library contains over 19,000 volumes of
books, 275 cassette books, over 600 videos, over 80 magazines, multiple
newspapers, 5 computers, and a fax & copier machine. The library also
has a wide selection of videos and DVD's. Activities
include story hour & a summer reading program.
